There is a thing on facebook right now about putting up 25 random facts/goals etc about yourself… here are mine!

1. This year at the SuperBowl Party I am going to eat! And then not drink so much that Monday is a most horrible excuse for a work day! 2. It makes me incredibly sad that I cannot walk in my 4th Breast Cancer 3 Day this year, but the turn that my year has taken makes me think it was a wise decision. And watch out 2010 walk… We’ll be back! 3. I get really annoyed with the fact that some people are never the ones to call their friends, rather they wait until you call and then act annoyed that you don’t talk that often. 4. In the winter I keep the “heat” at 58°. And yes I said “heat” as you must have to call it that in the winter right!? Bring me some sweat pants and a comforter and a sweatshirt! 5. This Friday I will find out just how hard 10% salary decrease hits…. 6. It makes me wonder why people say things like “Lindsay is not doing her job.” When I know damn well that I am doing my job, and parts of two other jobs! I also realize that it’s not my job to baby-sit… 7. I will forever remember the day that my first niece, Peyton, was born! Thank you Kristen & Rich! 8. I will always remember the day that Parker ate a “hard doughnut” and wanted me to take a picture. 9. I love pictures! I love to take pictures, but I wish I was more skilled. 10. I wish that I could wake up next to Clay every day! 11. I really want to go parasailing, go to Hawaii, go back to Europe, and would love to go to Greece. 12. Bare Essentuals make up is my favorite! Especially the Buxom Lips lip gloss! Ladies- this makeup is actually good for you and your skin! Do some research on all of the chemicals and junk that are in your regular make up and then its time to check out the shampoo/conditioner/styling products you use! 13. Rarely do I enjoy alone time. I’d so much rather have someone to talk to or watch tv with! Trust me, I have more than enough alone time at work and at home! 14. For all of my life I’ve been shy! I used to make my little brother go and make friends with people and then I would go and join them afterwards. 15. For a good portion of my life I wanted to be a duplicate of my sister! I wanted to swim and run and marry my high school sweetheart. In fact, that might have been one of the only reasons I joined the swim team. I did end up loving swimming. As for running, my knees are way to messed up for that. High school sweethearts: can we say control freak and unadventurous boy… who’s now married with a kid! 16. I have walked 90 miles in 3 Day events, not counting all of the training. That’s almost from Grand Rapids to Howell!! Training amounts to somewhere between 1200 and 1600 miles! CK & AA, glad we are still friends after all of that time together! 17. I really do not want to celebrate my birthday this year! Not because I don’t want to get older or I have some strange fear of my birthday. Simply for the fact that I am always disappointed in my birthday! Last year was huge proof of that! (except you CC). 18. This year I will be the Maid Of Honor for my very best friends wedding! I am pretty excited for this whole event! Now I just need to save up the rest of the money, and get my words ready for the speech! Congratulations to Jill & Steve! 19. I’d love to say it’s a huge secret that I feel like I’m the last person in the world to get married and have kids, but let’s face it- you all already know that! I also know it’s not true… sometimes I just forget there is no race and no reason to rush! 20. I really, really like to be organized! Sometimes so much so that it becomes a fault of mine. Organization takes many sticky notes, and many calendars all with the same information! 21. This year I successfully re-caulked my bathtub all by myself! Trust me, help was offered, but I really wanted to do this project alone! 22. I love to make cookies for Clay! 23. I really, really, really miss having a sugar.free red.bull every morning! Someone please remind me why I would give up such a lovely slice of heaven! I mean seriously! 24. Bruegger’s Bagels are the absolute best bagels in the entire universe! I know that Kristen will back me up on that one! I am going to have to go get one on Saturday morning! Why does it have to be 2 hours away from me! 25. I love office supplies! Pretty much all of them. One can never have enough sticky notes, pens, highlighters, permanent markers, binder clips, folders, paper… Staples, I love you!

re-caulked my bathtub all by myself!

Yup, you read that right! I re-caulked my bathtub! Last week it hit me… this bathtub looks kinda funky since the previous owner didn’t take care of the place to my standards… anyway. This bathtub needed to be re-caulked! I looked up some directions on what exactly i might need to do for this to happen! Looked and sounded fairly simple. So on thursday afternoon Clay and I picked up all necessary supplies! All the while, people kept telling me to just let Clay do it or to have him help. He even offered and insisted several times that he would take care of it. I, however, would have none of it! I wanted to do this little project on my own. (Knowing that if it turned out quite disasterously he would be back on Saturday to help). So Friday when i arrived home from work i began to plan for my attack! first i would pull out the old caulking and scrap away any of the little left overs. Then i would clean out the creases with bleach and then once over with rubbing alcohol and let it dry. Next would be to tape off the area and get down to business!
The process of pulling the old caulk took a bit longer than i had actually anticipated! it was a bit tougher! but then i found a paint scraper and a razor blade. Now we’re talkin! That was much easier! All other steps turned out relatively close to what I was expecting. Saturday morning i noticed a few air bubbles that had popped through, so i put a second coat of caulk on and it is done!
I did it! All by myself! My very first home-improvement project done solo! So to all the ladies out there who are unsure if they can do this or not… You can do it! have faith and the right tools!

Ok Ladies and Gents! Not entirely sure how much anyone really reads on this little known blog of mine… but here’s a quick one for Thursday!

Tonight i Drive from Grand Rapids to Detroit to participate in my 3rd Breast Cancer 3 Day event! Instead of being excited about this weekend, i find myself thinking about a hundred things that are not exciting, and i find myself anxious to see how the weekend will go. I fear that any tensions between “team-mates” will show through after about 20 or 30 miles. I also fear that so much of this weekend goes by far too fast! Don’t get me wrong, i need those sixty miles we walk to go by at a decent pace… I just really am hoping not to miss out on anything. So aside from the few worries i may have i am also unsure if i have told the people i am participating with what their involvement means to me.

I’ve sent several cards to the walkers on my team that are and have been especially critical to my success in this year and previous years as well. I also decided that my biggest struggle this year has been taking 11 people, some strangers some not, and making them into a “team.” One might ask if i have been successful at this venture, and i truly cannot answer that question. One might also ask what have i done to make this possible. I have sent numerous emails and included all parties, i have sent letters to each walker on my team to congratulate them on making it this far or on any special accomplishments they have had. I can only hope that i helped in some way shape or form make this walk not only possible for some, but enjoyable and comfortable. It was pointed out to me not too long ago that through my frustrations i have done much more to unite people and inform walkers on the upcoming event, than most would have done for me. I understand that, and i want to be better than the complaints i have made.

Anyone who is walking in the Breast Cancer 3 Day this weekend… CONGRATULATIONS! You have changed lives! You have saved lives! You are making a difference, with every step and every mile! I hope that you are proud of your own accomplishments this year! You deserve to embrace the progress you’ve made! Thank you for such an awesome commitment! Have a happy weekend! and remember that we are all walking for a reason, when you hit a point where you might question your own motives… step back and remember your reason for walking….

This is the poem that i found on the 3 day website a while ago, and that was read at opening ceremonies…
We Walk Because We Believe
We walk because we believe – We believe in a world that is free from breast cancer
We walk because we believe – We believe that tomorrow is too late
We walk because we believe – We believe in the memory of those lost to breast cancer
We walk because we believe – We believe in the spirit of our breast cancer survivors
We walk because we believe – We believe in the children who will never know breast cancer
We walk because we believe – We believe in a cure for breast cancer
And we will keep walking until a cure is found.

This is quite possibly the closest to heaven that we on earth may ever get. 2 weeks ago we followed my sister out to Colorado where she was having the memroial for her father who passed away in October. For the memorial, she wanted to have it at the place they used to go camping every year. Most likely i’ll never be able to describe or capture the beauty of this place. its up in between the mountains in Vail, 12 miles or so up and into the mountains, but it takes nearly an hour to drive it. Its called Piney. Simply the most beautiful place i have ever seen. If you ever have the opportunity to visit this magestic place, i would highly recommend it!

Oh yes… we raised money at the Euchre Party! Thank you to everyone who supported us. A special thank you to those who put up with my crabby-ness the weeks before, and those who believed that the event would turn out great!
All in all… Jay’s expression says it all!

The only thing i wish i could change… that i would have taken more pictures of these flowers… maybe i could have some other really neat shots… I do plan to find a place to hang this and one other in my home. Just wanted to share it with you!

May is a very busy month for me this year… in the midst of planning far too many events with not enough help from others it seems! This weekend i am helping to host a baby shower for a friend of mine. This is by far a huge issue for me! I had no idea how expensive this was going to be… last night i went to pick up the plates, cups, cutsie napkins etc… $90 later, my heart has damn near stoped and i’ve got to stop at the bank to take out a small loan until my lovely stimulus check comes in… Thankfully this event is almost here.
Next event in the planning stages is a Euchre Party to raise money for this years Breast Cancer 3 Day in the name of Team WICKED! We are excited to have this new event on our plates! We’ve got some prize donations, we’ve got some food donations, but our RSVPs… unless everyone is waiting until the last minute i’ve got no idea where they are! Even if people don’t want to come, it would be nice to know that!
Then after that i am trying to plan a fun weekend away with my boyfriend. This seems to be the most enjoyable event to plan so far… leaves me dreaming of beer around a warm campfire and roasting marshmallows as a great excuse for dinner! Also, if a bit of winning is in store at the casino,  I can’t say i’d turn that down…

So for all of you that i run into during the month of May… I apologize if i look a little worn, or if i am a little bit stressed… just know that I really want to prove to my teammates that I can plan an event that people show up to and help us raise a whole bunch of money! Fundraising is so hard, I am already contemplating not walking next year…. it’s just too hard this year! (please prove me wrong)
